Easter break in Quebec: the outings that make you forget the chocolate

Easter break means four days off school right as Quebec comes out of winter: the snow is melting, the maples are running, zoos are reopening and farms are welcoming their first lambs. In 2027 the break runs from Good Friday, March 26 to Easter Monday, March 29 (Easter Sunday falls on March 28, 2027). This guide gathers the outings that make you forget the chocolate: sugar shacks, Easter petting farms, zoos, and indoor plan Bs if the weather sulks.

Tips: sugar shacks sell out weeks ahead for Easter weekend, so book by mid-March. Egg hunts and petting farms mostly run on Saturday and Sunday: check the listing for hours. And on Easter Monday many museums are open while schools are closed, making it the quietest day of the break.

🍁 Sugar shacks: peak season

The sugaring season is in full swing in late March. Traditional meal, maple taffy on snow, tractor rides and, at many sugar bushes, an egg hunt on Easter Sunday. Here are a few sure bets; the complete sugar shack guide lists more than a hundred, region by region.

🐣 Zoos, petting farms and baby animals

Easter is birthing season: lambs, kids, chicks and bunnies. Several zoos reopen just in time for the break with special programming (Granby Zoo hosts the largest Easter petting farm in Quebec), and livestock farms open their pens to families.

🌧️ If it rains, or still snows

Late March weather does what it wants. Indoor water parks, science centres and museums are sure bets, and Easter Monday is surprisingly quiet there.
