In September and October, Quebec’s vineyards live their finest season: the harvest, with picking days open to the public, parties among the rows, tastings of the first juices and country meals. This guide gathers the Quebec vineyards that welcome visitors, region by region, with each one’s listing, activities and prices; the dates of harvest festivals and picking days are on each vineyard’s listing, usually announced in August.
Joining the harvest
Several vineyards invite the public to pick for a morning, pruning shears in hand, in exchange for a meal and a bottle; spots go fast. Plan clothes that can get stained, closed shoes and sunscreen: September is still hot in the rows.
Doing the route
Harvest festivals follow one another weekend after weekend, from the Eastern Townships to the Montérégie and out to Île d’Orléans. Plan a designated driver or a package with lodging, and combine with a neighbouring cidery or cheesemaker: each vineyard’s listing shows what surrounds it.
