From Old Quebec to Île d’Orléans, from Montmorency Falls to the ski resorts around the city, the Quebec City region is worth a visit in every season. This guide brings together our best ideas for outings in the Capitale-Nationale, sorted by category, with the listing of each place and upcoming events.
Good to know
Old Quebec is best explored on foot: park once for the day. In winter, the region is one of the snowiest in southern Quebec: a top destination for skiing, sliding and the Carnival.
Our favourites
Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, Québec City. An 83 m waterfall, 30 m higher than Niagara Falls, to see from the cable car, the panoramic staircase, the suspension bridge, or by zip line and via ferrata for the more daring.
Musée de la civilisation, Québec City. A fresh, often unexpected look at the human experience, with original exhibitions and a year-round program of activities.
Village Vacances Valcartier, Saint-Gabriel-de-Valcartier. The largest winter playground in America: the Himalaya, the Tornado, Snow Rafting and skating trails.
Canyon Sainte-Anne, Saint-Joachim. A canyon carved by a 74 m waterfall, three suspension bridges including one 60 metres high, and AirCanyon to fly over the gorge.
Onhwa’ Lumina, Wendake. After nightfall, a trail where light, sound and video projections lead you to meet the Huron-Wendat people.
