Thanks to a series of programs on Mount Royal, young Montrealers can enjoy spring and summer in an exceptional outdoor setting! With over 30 years of experience in environmental education, Les amis de la montagne applies an educational approach that teaches children about the environment while developing their autonomy, stimulating their imagination and promoting physical exercise in the great outdoors. Children can take advantage of these activities starting in March in the Forest School on the Mountain and continue in the summer with the day camp.

Forest School on Mount Royal: creating sustainable bonds with nature
Start of registration:  February 18

Developed in 2015 by Les amis de la montagne, Forest School on Mount Royal is a nature immersion program inspired by the international Forest School movement. It aims to reconnect children in urban areas aged 0 to 12 years with the natural environment.

What distinguishes this program is that sessions combine free play and instructor-directed activities throughout the seasons. Young participants create lasting bonds with nature and learn to love and protect Mount Royal. Moreover, small groups allow children to explore the forest according to their own desires and interests, guided by experienced educators.

Day camp: activities for an unforgettable summer
Start of registration: March 12

Located in the exceptional setting of Mount Royal Park, Les amis de la montagne’s summer day camp welcomes children from 5 to 12 years old. It allows them to spend a week or two exploring the mountain’s natural habitats, learning about fauna and flora, and playing outdoors. Forest adventures, wildlife discovery and various games help children unplug and reconnect with nature in one of the city’s great urban parks!
