This National Historic Site commemorates the last naval battle between France and England, a year after the Battle of the Plains of Abraham (1759), in Québec city. In July 1760, the British destroyed a French rescue fleet at the mouth of the Restigouche River. More than just a simple military defeat, the event spelled the loss of all hope of saving New France. ©Parks Canada
