“This Rented Shell” is a poetic exploration of memory that is both intimate and collective. Recited poetry, evocative imagery, and sound design blend with animation to create an immersive space where memory is felt and seen. Do our memories truly belong to us, or do we exist as guardians of inherited stories? David Gardener poses this fundamental question in this poetic and anthropological meditation on time, identity, and the human experience. Memory takes the form of a “rented shell” that houses both personal and shared experiences. Initially presented as an immersive performance, the work will subsequently be showcased as a fulldome film.
