Sentier de la Haute du Gouffre / Vélo de montagne

An initiative of the municipality of Saint-Urbain and the most recent section of the Trans Canada Trail in Charlevoix, the Haute du Gouffre trail links the Traversée de Charlevoix welcome station to the base of Mont des Morios, in the vicinity of Lac Boudreault. Mainly skirting the upper course of the Rivière du Gouffre-hence the name…-it only strays from this on a few occasions, either to bypass a small canyon, certain cliffs or, above all, a vast wetland zone known as the “eaux mortes”…aka the Charlevoix bayous! The 30-kilometre-long, rustic, single-track trail is both invigorating and bewitching, and was designed for shared use by XC mountain bikers and hikers-even cohabiting on seaside trails.
