The Chœur Métropolitain presents, in “German Waltzes and Latin Psalms,” great choral works by Stravinsky and Brahms, accompanied by two pianists. In his highly rhythmic Symphony of Psalms, Stravinsky draws inspiration from both Byzantine sounds, which are very Eastern, and the musical heritage of Latin Western culture and Gregorian chant. Brahms’ Liebeslieder-Walzer and Neue Liebeslieder, on the other hand, are typically romantic works.
