The Nutcracker, choreographed by Quebec’s Fernand Nault to the brilliant score of Piotr Tchaikovsky. Inspired by the fantastical tale of E.T.A. Hoffmann, this ballet follows Clara, a sweet and determined young girl, who, on Christmas Eve, finds herself immersed in a battle between toy soldiers and threatening rats. Through a magical turn of events, her nutcracker, received as a Christmas gift, comes to life and comes to her aid before leading her into a magical world. From the icy tranquility of the Land of Snow to the sparkling delicacy of the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Land of Sweets, Fernand Nault’s staging infuses a deeply human warmth into the timeless poetry of classical ballet. Featuring around 165 performers accompanied by the music of the Orchestre des Grands Ballets, The Nutcracker is more than a grand tradition; it is an irresistible journey into wonder.
