Stephanie Lake, a leading figure in Australian dance, thinks big. “There is something primal in Manifesto,” says the choreographer. “You have to experience it, without trying to intellectualize it.” In front of a huge watermelon-pink velvet curtain, a fabulous cast of nine performers and just as many percussionists unleash their energy to the score of iconoclastic composer Robin Fox, played on nine drum kits. In a concert of precision, movements and rhythms become more complex and accelerate, culminating in an exhilarating whirlwind of human energy. A feast for the senses!
