In “Echoes of the Forest”, Yannick Nézet-Séguin breathes new life into the evocative, subtle music of French composer Rita Strohl, whose Forest Symphony has recently been rediscovered. The conductor first presents a short but poignant work by his favorite composer, Brahms’ Tragic Overture, then welcomes longtime OM friend and internationally acclaimed soloist Jean-Guihen Queyras. Together, they set out to conquer the Everest of the cello, one of the most dizzying concertos written for the instrument, that of Dvořák.
