A masterpiece of Quebec theater, “At the Heart of the Rose,” a play with mythical and philosophical undertones by the great filmmaker, playwright, and poet Pierre Perrault, is driven by a powerful language rich in multiple resonances. On an island, a father, mother, and daughter live far from the noise. One stormy night, the river washes ashore a schooner, from which a captain and a sailor disembark, representing for the daughter the possibility of escaping her fate and the dream of new horizons. However, her impetuous desire is opposed by the forces of inertia, inherited sadness, and threatened traditions.
